Luthers Sterbehaus
The Luther Death House Museum is becoming a museum quarter
Model of the new building at the death house A new building and the integration of additional outdoor space will develop the Luther Death House Museum into a museum quarter. During the construction project, the historical building will be modernised, improved, and – above all – freed of all utilitarian functions. In the future, facilities such as the ticket area, shop, and toilets will be located in the new building. The amount of exhibition space will be significantly increased through the additional structure, which is characterised by its clear and modern design. This will provide room for temporary exhibitions as well as additional space for the permanent exhibition. The new museum quarter will also provide adequate room for cultural education programmes and for events. The future museum quarter will be entered through the old vicar’s garden.

Courtyard of the future museum district of Luther's Death House, designed by From M GmbH + architects Erich H. Fritz The Stuttgart cooperative ‘Von M GmbH + Architekturbüro Erich H. Fritz’ created the design.

The construction project will cost five million euro. Funds were provided by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building, and Urban Development (BMVBS) via the investment programme ‘Nationale Welterbestätten’ (National world heritage sites), by the Ministry of Regional Development and Transport of Saxony-Anhalt, and by the city of Eisleben.
