Do you have an object that you would like to donate to the Luther Memorials Foundation?
We are always working to expand our collection for future exhibitions and research, which means that we are always interested in objects related to the life, work and impact of Martin Luther and of the history of the Reformation in general.
Simply contact us! We would appreciate a photo of your object, as this will help us to make an initial assessment. In the event that you end up making a donation, your name and the origin of the object will be noted in our inventories, and will be displayed in the event that your object should be exhibited. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, we will naturally respect this wish as well.
Many of the books in the old inventory of our library have been damaged by centuries of use and the conditions under which they have been stored and displayed. In most cases, the damage involves torn spines, defective bindings or books that cannot be closed. Preserving and caring for these books is the responsibility of the Foundation, but the high costs of these efforts means that we are unable to do so alone.
As a result, the Luther Memorials Foundation is looking for people who would like to sponsor a book and make a donation to help us preserve our valuable books.
You will find a list of the prints and manuscripts in need of restoration, as well as the restoration costs of each, in the list below.
You may select one or more books for whose restoration you would like to offer your personal support. It is also possible for multiple people to jointly sponsor a single book.
A book sponsorship offers you many advantages
- You will enjoy free long-term access to the museums of the Luther Memorials Foundation.
- You will receive a receipt for your charitable donation.
- The restored book will be given a bookplate bearing the name of the sponsor.
- If you wish, your name will also be published in the ‘Book of Thanks’ that is on display in the Luther House.
Please show your support for the Luther Memorials Foundation by becoming a book sponsor and help us preserve these valuable cultural artefacts.
